Lacrosse Field Markings on Existing Sports Field

Trends, Turf _Tips, Product_Review
Lacrosse Field Markings on Football and Soccer Field.
What does the field look like when you stripe a lacrosse field on an existing marked sports field?  This has become a common question for a lot of sports clubs that are playing on fields that were installed for other sporting events. What colors should you use? Is there any hard and fast rules on the color of lines? What are other facilities using, especially on the synthetic or artificial surface sports fields?

Over time Tru Mark personnel have visited many different sports complexes and have collected a few images of some these multi-purpose venues. Review a series of images from the Tru Mark photo album of two sports venues where lacrosse field lines have been applied to soccer and a combined football and soccer field.

Each state high school sports association may have designed color schemes in their by-laws when marking fields that are used for multiple sports. Tru Mark for the most part has seen only white lines for football fields, yellow (or possibly black) for soccer, blue and red lines for lacrosse are very common. Once the athletes understand the colored markings there seems to be little problem with distinguishing the boundary lines for their particular sport.

Typically most high schools will have the football field lines sewn into the artificial turf surface, possibly soccer field lines as well in a different color, typically yellow or in more recent cases black. More club and youth sports associations are wanting access to these synthetic turf venues. Facility managers are trying to balance the needs with the operations and maintenance of these facilities. Some facilities are using permanent and removable paints (such as Tru Mark TrailBlazer formulations, Rally Day removable and Solar Trail permanent) to support these other sporting events while others want a more temporary and less resource intensive product that doesn't require a lot of cleaning and paint removal. This has lead to the introduction of aerosol (DuraStripe Chalk) and liquid bulk chalk (Tru Mark SwitchBack Double Play liquid chalk) solutions.

To help with laying out a lacrosse field, man and women, no matter the size request a copy of the Lacrosse Field Layout Tool. It is a MS Excel template with formulas to calculate the distances from the center and two end points on the field.
